God’s Will Outweighs Man’s: Powerful Message on Divine Purpose Delivered at Faith Mission of Uganda Church in Lira

Lira City, Uganda – March 1, 2026 A stirring Sunday sermon centered on the supremacy of God’s will over human plans captivated worshippers today at Faith Mission of Uganda Church, located on Kwania Road behind Quest Petrol Station in Lira City.

Speaking under the theme “The Will of God”, the preacher declared that while “the will of man has no value, the will of God has value.” He emphasized that God’s will existed from the beginning, was written in Christ, and embodies God’s eternal plan, purpose, and desire for all humanity.

Referencing Jeremiah’s promise of good plans from God, he warned believers against statements that portray God as one who both gives and takes away, explaining that such views contradict the true nature of God’s benevolent will.

The message outlined three biblical categories of God’s will found in the Old Testament:

  • Sovereign Will — God’s supreme, unchangeable authority and ultimate purposes.
  • Moral Will — Expressed through commandments, particularly the fifth to tenth of the Ten Commandments.
  • Permissive Will — Areas where God permits human choices within the bounds of His larger plan.

Jesus was presented as the perfect model of submission to the Father’s will. Quoting John 4:34, the preacher highlighted Christ’s declaration that His food was to do the will of Him who sent Him. He also pointed to Hebrews 10:7, showing the glory that accompanies the fulfillment of God’s assigned mission, and John 6:38-40, which reveals the Father’s desire for salvation and preservation of believers.

The sermon further explored the Holy Spirit’s role in aligning believers with God’s will, citing Romans 8:26-27 to illustrate how the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to divine purposes. The preacher affirmed that “it is the will of the Father to cause the Holy Ghost to intercede for the saints.”

Drawing from church history, he honored the Apostolic believers who endured hardship while planting churches and praying fervently for others, as seen in Colossians 1:9. He commended the leadership of Faith Mission of Uganda for their faithful intercession on behalf of the congregation, reminding attendees: “Sometimes we think we do it on our own to succeed, but someone is praying for us—not us praying on our own as we ought.”

A key challenge was issued against selfish prayer habits. The preacher observed that many believers focus prayers only on themselves and their families, neglecting the broader needs of the church, fellow believers, and the nation. He called for a return to the apostolic pattern of interceding for others, following the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

In closing, the message underscored that God’s sovereign will remains paramount and must be propagated on earth. Referencing Ephesians 5:17 (in context of understanding the Lord’s will), the preacher urged every believer to prioritize and fulfill what God has sent them to do, affirming once more that “always the will of God outweighs the will of man.”

The sermon left a strong impression on the congregation, renewing their commitment to seek, understand, and live out God’s will in every area of life. Faith Mission of Uganda Church continues to stand as a vibrant center of biblical teaching and spiritual encouragement in Lira City.
